What is Noda?
Noda is reshaping online payments, allowing seamless transactions from customers to merchants' bank accounts. With a footprint in the UK, EU, Canada, and Australia (Singapore up next!), we're seeking a talented Underwriter & Onboarding Manager (Cards) to be part of our dynamic team.
Your mission:
As a member of our small yet dynamic Acquiring team, you will play a crucial role in driving our new card processing products forward. You'll act at the intersection of several key responsibilities.
Merchant onboarding
- Conduct detailed due diligence (CDD/EDD) and risk assessments for merchants and partners applying to card programs.
- Evaluate and verify KYC documentation, business models, ownership structures, and regulatory standing.
- Ensure all onboarding activities comply with card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard) and internal policies.
Compliance and regulatory oversight
- Interpret and apply applicable regulations, including AML/CTF, PSD2, PCI DSS, and GDPR.
- Act as a subject matter expert on card-related compliance issues, offering guidance across departments.
- Stay updated on card scheme changes and regulatory developments, and ensure internal policies reflect them.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to enable smooth and compliant merchant activation.
- Act as a compliance point of contact during the commercial assessment of new merchants or business models.
- Support BDMs by providing training and guidance on card compliance criteria and onboarding prerequisites.
Risk management
- Support the implementation of transaction monitoring rules for card-related activity.
- Assist in chargeback risk prevention efforts, including support with rolling reserve monitoring.
- Assist in flagging, escalating, and resolving suspicious or non-compliant activity.
- Assist in merchant pre-check.
Documentation and audit support
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all onboarding and compliance reviews.
- Prepare documentation and reports for internal audits, regulatory inspections, or scheme reviews.
Process improvement and reporting
- Identify and implement improvements to the onboarding and compliance workflows.
- Help define and track KPIs related to onboarding efficiency, compliance accuracy, and risk mitigation.
- Create reports and dashboards to visualize onboarding trends, risks, and bottlenecks.
Training and enablement
- Develop internal documentation and training materials to support knowledge transfer on card compliance topics.
- Deliver training sessions to new hires or commercial teams on card scheme requirements, onboarding procedures, and risk red flags.
Your skills and experience:
- 3+ years in the payments industry, with a heavy focus on card processing
- Experience managing a portfolio of 200+ merchants over the course of your career
- In-depth knowledge of acquiring business, card scheme rules, AML/CTF regulations, and data protection standards
- Independence in task management
- Proactivity in resolving arising issues
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management
- Strong skills in English and Russian (both written and spoken, min. level B2+)
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal, Business Management or equivalent would be an advantage
